My Engagement Story

Hello friends! I've been AWOL this week due to my engagement. (!!) Everyone asks me how he proposed, so I thought I'd share it with all of you...

It was his birthday and I was super excited to give him his presents (girls, I will do a Christmas gift guide soon!) and just for the day ahead. We were going to have some brunch with his friends and then venture into Winter Wonderland, to then pick up my parents in the evening and head over to my house so I could make some burritos and a Mint Chocolate cake. A very chilled birthday - or so I thought.

When the day had set and we were on our way to my house, we picked up my parents and off we went. I was going to pick up some ingredients for the burritos but he insisted that I should wait until we got in to see what I actually needed. I just thought, "okay the shop's right here but okay, he's probably right!"

We walked up and I entered the house and it was all dark, and my housemate Sarah popped out of the laundry room on her phone, scaring me so much. She apologised and then said in her brilliant Scottish accent, "hey, there's just something out the back I want to show you.."

Before she opened the door, I smelled smoke and thought, "OH no, I burned something. Oh gosh what did I do wrong?!"

Typical reaction.

But then, she opened the door to the garden and I saw a bunch of people with lanterns lit, and I could only make out one of Nathan's really good friends. Immediately my thought was, "they totally planned a surprise birthday party for him WITHOUT ME!"

But it was at that moment that I turned to the left and quickly read the words on the painting, "Nataly will you marry me?"

And I turned around, and saw him popping down on one knee...
(Haj, our amazing photographer friend, captured my reactions..)

"Will you marry me and spend the rest of your life with me?"

"Of course I will!"

And then our friends lit sparklers and began congratulating us.

And gave us champagne to celebrate.

And then began the pictures..

Thank you to all our friends who came and participated, you guys are the best.

I love you all,
and mostly,
thank you Nathan for being so creative and for a dreamy proposal.
I love you and I'm looking forward to spending the rest of my life with you.

Love,
Nataly

How absolutely lovely, Nataly, congratulations! I'd have thought I left the stove on if I smelt lanterns burning without my knowledge, too, haha!
